Dear Website Viewer:

The Rocky Mount/Edgecombe Community Development Corporation has historically relied upon sizable federal grants, state, and local government and foundations for financial support. These organizations and agencies have seen an increased demand on its diminishing funds over the last few years. RMECDC has experienced significant decreases in operational funding from these otherwise reliable resources.

We were there when the community needed real brick and mortar and human resource development. Your financial contribution will be used to maintain staff capacity to continue to produce real brick and mortar and societal/human changes as well as continue staff to help build and restore families and communities.

We were there . . .

  • When the community needed AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND APARTMENTS, over 175 single and multifamily units were built, leased, and sold
  • When the community needed HOUSING COUNSELING, ESPECIALLY FORECLOSURE PREVENTION COUNSELING, over 4,000 individuals received free counseling
  • When the community needed HELP AFTER THE DEVASTATION OF HURRICANE FLOYD FLOODING, RMECDC processed 3,000 housing replacement applications and provided emergency donations to families
  • When the community needed SMALL BUSINESS EDUCATION, over 3,000 received one-on-one counseling and skills training
  • When the community needed CONVENIENT GOODS AND SERVICES, RMECDC went under construction of an 85-acre mixed-use development known as Crossing at 64
  • When the community needed ADULT SCHOLARSHIPS, YOUTH RECOGNITION PROGRAM, MATH AND SCIENCE CAMP, AND OTHER TUTORING PROGRAMS, RMECDC provided these services free of charge to adults and youths at Thorne Ridge Apartments.
  • When the community needed CULTURAL REVITALIZATION, RMECDC produced 19 successful Harambee Cultural and Jazz Festivals, free to the public

In conclusion, RMECDC has transformed unused land into houses developments and limited resources into unlimited human service programs for adults and youths. These programs are an investment in the FUTURE of the City of Rocky Mount by creating needed businesses and jobs, homeownership, increased revenue generated from a larger tax base, new utility customers, and overall improved the economic vitality of the area . . . at no cost to the citizens.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? YOU CAN REDEDICATE YOUR PERSONAL PARTICIPATION IN A WAY OF A FINANCIAL SUPPORT BY CONTRIBUTING TO THE WORK OF THE RMECDC.

A Sincere Thank You from the Board of Directors and Staff
